BRIEF/ CREATE A VISIAL TOOL TO PREPARE THE GENERAL PUBLIC TO CAMPAIGN AT THE G8 SUMMIT AGAINST WORLD HUNGER

boardI Set out to design various logos to be placed as the identity for the campaign. Ideas derived from concepts connecting with famine and unequally in the world etc. I began to feel that the picture with the hands grabbing chunks out of Africa was the most powerful. I didn’t want to present a negative reaction so i decided to think of a way of reverting from the G8 from ‘taking’ and giving the public the responsibility to give .

Because this is a hunger campaign i immediately thought rice was a good source of food to portray hunger as its a source of food generally eaten  in both developed and developing countries.

I made a globe using rice grains to to make a straight forward illustration of there being enough food in the world for everyone. I decided to put the rice grains on a black background to make them more clear.

I then came up with the idea of hands pouring rice into each other forming a globe of rice. I pitched this idea to designers at Comic Relief, who then art-worked the design to be placed in london underground.
